Waterfront Acreage Homesites

This mini-subdivision of Jenkins homes was built on acreage for a family. One of the interesting facts on this project occurred when Shan Jenkins, owner of Jenkins Custom Homes, was reviewing the engineering documents for one of the homes. In questioning the engineering documents, Shan revealed that the engineering documents failed to take into consideration the wind shears which can and do come off the water here in Austin. After discussing it further with the homeowner and the Engineer, it was determined that there needed to be more steel in order to protect the structural integrity of the home. The homeowners were quick to thank Shan that he was so thorough and that he had the experience building waterfront homes to catch that type of oversight before it was too late.
